December Training Cycle

Happy December Omnia!

You have all put in such hard work this year and especially over the last 8 weeks crushing this Strength cycle. As we are reaching the end of 2019 it is a great time to reflect on the past year and see just how far you've come as well as start to set sights on your goals for 2020!

I want to update you on our plan for the next month. Next week we will be hitting a deload week from the strength cycle allowing our bodies a chance to recover from all of the heavy lifting and take a break from the movements you have done consistently the past 8 weeks. Keep in mind “deload” does not mean rest week and there will still be challenging workouts to keep you on track with your fitness goals!

Because of the Holiday season we are going to have a 3 week mini training cycle with the intent to prepare you for our next big cycle (Squat Heavy!) coming up on January 6th. We know this is a busy time of the year and so rather than starting the next cycle right away, we will wait so everyone can find their normal rhythm with training.

The focus of the 3 weeks will be transitioning to performing Olympic lifts (Snatch & Clean) from the floor as we have spent a lot of time from the hang in the last cycle. We will also be adding in some gymnastics specific work to build strength, technique and capacity mainly through pulling variations (Pull Ups, C2B, Muscle Ups) and handstand push ups.

Our conditioning will be focused on classic CrossFit and will include some longer workouts (think Hero Wods, 12 Days of Christmas, etc) with higher volume. Because we won’t be going as barbell intensive with strength over the next 3 weeks it allows the programming to get into these style workouts without beating you up.

We want to create more resiliency and capacity over the next few weeks so you are ready to lift HEAVY when we start our next strength cycle. Added bonus is these more intensive workouts will burn a few extra calories to make up for those Holiday treats and Eggnog!

And don’t worry, details will be coming soon for the next strength cycle - Stay tuned!
